The Embassy of Nepal in Israel in cooperation with Nepalese community in Israel organized a grand event to celebrate 2557th Birth Anniversary of Lord Buddha, Mount Everest Diamond Jubilee and tourism attractions in Nepal, in Tel Aviv, Israel on 25 May 2013.
The event was inaugurated jointly by HE Ambassador of Nepal Mr. Prahlad Kumar Prasai, HE Ambassador of Myanmar Mr. Myo Aye, HE Ambassador of Srilanka Mr. Sarath Devasena Wijesinghe and Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Suchart Liengsaengthong of Royal Thai Embassy. Welcoming the guests HE Ambassador of Nepal highlighted on the glory of birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini and urged the Israeli people to visit Lumbini among other places of Nepal. HE Ambassador also emphasized that Buddha’s message of compassion and devotion to the service of humanity is more relevant today than any other time in the history.


Briefing about the tourism attractions of Nepal, he added that Nepal is not only for young people but also for the all ages and interests. Besides that he gave a brief outline on Diamond Jubilee of Mount Everest ascent.
Ambassador of Myanmar mentioned in his greetings that he is ready to provide any cooperation to promote Lumbini .Ambassador of Srilanka expressed his happiness to be in the programme and told that Buddhism is not a religion but a way of life but we offer “pooja” in different ways. Deputy Chief of mission of Thailand Mr. Suchart Liengsaengthong also delivered greetings on the occasion of Buddhajayanti.
Mr. Dani Abrahami, an Israeli operator of social networks and good friend of Nepal presented a comprehensive power point on his experiences about tourism attractions in Nepal. Mr. Doron Erel, first Israeli to climb Mt. Everest also shared his experiences. Similarly, Mr. Nadav Ben Yehuda, who rescued a Turkish climber from Mount Everest because of that he had to abandon his climb also, presented his experiences of climbing the Mt. Everest.
Nepalese community living in Israel, performed several cultural and traditional dances and songs. Ms. Roshan Khanal, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Nepal presented on Life and Teachings of Buddha and Mr. Hari Prasad Prasai, Attache of the Embassy of Nepal presented on History of Mt. Everest ascent. The program started with “Buddha Pooja” by Lamas was concluded with vote of thanks by HE Ambassador of Nepal.
The Programme was attended by large no. of Israeli friends of Nepal, Tour and Travel Operators, diplomats, academicians, Business people and Nepalese community living in Israel.
