Anti-Democratic Tendencies in today's multicultural Europe, Tel Aviv, May 1, 2012.
Findings of the FES study: "Intolerance, Prejudice and Discrimination – A European Report", investigating causes of racism and Anti-Semitism in Europe will be discussed.
The assault on a Jewish school in Toulouse in March of this year has put Europe, Israel and the world into a state of shock. It has also stimulated a discussion on Anti-Semitism in today's Europe and raised further questions as to how far Anti-Semitism and Racism have become mainstream in European societies again.
In the FES Study "Intolerance, Prejudice and Discrimination – A European Report" the extent, determinants and possible causes of racism and Anti-Semitism were investigated in eight European countries. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung would like to present and discuss the findings of the study in the present event.
The keynote Speech will be delivered by Matthias Platzeck, Minister-President of the Federal State of Brandenburg, Germany.
Prof. Dr. Andreas Zick, University of Bielefeld, Germany,  Author of the Study, will present the FES Study: "Intolerance, Prejudice and Discrimination – A European Report". Following the presentation is a Panel Discussion on the subject: Racism and Anti-Semitism in Europe – Becoming Mainstream again?
Moderator: David Witzthum, Journalist and Editor, Channel One The Conference will be held in English and German with simultaneous translation into Hebrew.
