June 20, 2012 – Jerusalem, Israel – Jacob Frankel, Chairman of JP Morgan Chase International led a panel of economic experts including former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo, President of the Global Markets Institute and Senior Investment Strategist at Goldman Sachs, Abby Joseph-Cohen, Chairman of Bank Hapoalim, Yair Seroussi and Dr. Jacques Attali in analyzing the current state of the world economy.
“We are facing a huge challenge worldwide with enormous potential for growth,” said Attali. “Even with the 2008 financial crisis, the world is growing faster now than in any other period of time in history. However, in Europe specifically, we need to move from techno-federalism to a political federalism model like in the U.S., this will avoid collapse of the Euro.”

Quartet Head Tony Blair Outlines Key Elements for Future of Middle East
June 19, 2012 – Jerusalem, Israel – In an emotional ceremony, Israeli President Shimon Peres awarded fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger with Israel’s first Presidential Award of Distinction, for Kissinger’s lifetime of contribution to the Jewish State. The ceremony took place as part of the evening session which closed the opening day of Facing Tomorrow 2012.
Joining Peres and Kissinger in offering his perspective on The Compass that Navigates the Future, as the session was entitled, was former British prime minister, and current Quartet envoy Tony Blair. Also in attendance were the President of Albania, the President of Croatia and the President of the Ivory Coast, as well as Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman and many other dignitaries.

June 20, 20126th EU-Israel Seminar on Combating Anti-Semitism, Racism and Xenophobia was held in Jerusalem
The sixth seminar on the fight against Anti-Semitism, Racism and Xenophobia was held in Jerusalem on 18-19 June, bringing together officials, diplomats and experts from both Israel and the European Union.
The seminar, held annually, reflects the importance attributed by both the EU and Israel to the fight against anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia.

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD) opened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, against a background of distressing data published by the UN, according to which the demand for food in the world is to double by 2030, and the demand for energy is to skyrocket by 45%, which would severely strain resources. World leaders and Heads of State will be preparing a document at the conference to establish guidelines for sustainable development of the planet and its resources in the future. The President of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, who opened the conference this week, called upon all the nations of the world to commit to reaching an accord on the pressing issues.
