El Salvador will have a commemorative public space in the city of Ramla, Israel
As part of the activities carried out within the framework of the Public Diplomacy strategy, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which seeks to project national values, symbols, and traditions through significant actions abroad, the Embassy of El Salvador in Israel inaugurated El Salvador's Republic Square in the city of Ramla.
This event was presided over by the Ambassador of El Salvador to Israel, Héctor Celarié, who emphasized that this space demonstrates our country's firm commitment to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between our nations.
"We hope that this plaza will also become a meeting place for our diaspora, whom we always support with firm commitment and with whom we wish to remain close, regardless of the distance," Ambassador Celarié stated during the event.
Likewise, she mentioned that Israel and El Salvador share historical milestones that have united them, including the recognition granted 15 years ago by the Yad Vashem Institute to Colonel José Arturo Castellanos as "Righteous Among the Nations" for having saved numerous lives during the Holocaust.
His legacy remains a pillar in the relationship between our nations and an inspiration to continue working together for a shared future, the official noted.
"El Salvador's Republic Square is now a meeting point, a place of exchange, memory, and cooperation. That is why we are delighted to inaugurate this space that strengthens the ties between our nations and, above all, with the city of Ramla, the city of the world in Israel," the diplomat added.
He also noted that El Salvador is currently undergoing a profound transformation. "We are being reborn after difficult decades, guided by the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, whose example of administration transcends borders and powerfully projects our country to the world," she added.
Finally, Ambassador Celarié thanked Ramla Mayor Michael Vidal for his openness, for making this place a symbol of lasting friendship, and for allowing us to walk together on the path of respect, collaboration, and hope.
"We wish to honor the Salvadorans through this space, as well as recognize it as a country that has provided significant support to the people of Israel," he concluded.
