On Wednesday ,July 19, 2023 , HIT Holon Institute of Technology held an interesting tour of  HIT Industrial design exhibition for Ambassadors, Embassies staff and MFA representatives

On Display: Industrial Design and Interior Design Exhibitions Cap Off 4 years

Four years of hard work culminated on June 13th , in the long-awaited opening of an extensive exhibition of the works of  graduates from the Faculty of Design at HIT

Some 100 graduates of the Departments of Interior Design and Industrial Design showcased their final projects in a grand and eventful opening.

"Students majoring in Design embark on a difficult path, arduous and full of obstacles," says Prof. David Rawet, Dean of the Faculty of Design. "The current class of 2023 was challenged by the Corona pandemic and overcame it brilliantly. "

Graduates worked hard to make everything ‘come together’ for this special moment, during which they presented the final and concluding project embodying their years of study at the Faculty of Design.

Many projects revolve around environmental issues, i.e., exploring the environmental responsibility of the interior designer during these climatically challenged times.

“"Our goal was to direct our graduates toward a constantly evolving and changing reality. The world of sustainability demands finding new uses for existing structures, and reviewing and reconsidering patterns of living, culture, and commerce – all with a view to creating new approaches to solve old problems.  We are using large scale programmatic thinking as well as small-scale approaches to space treatments, personal environments, materials, and technologies" says architect Udi Cramsky, Head of the Interior Design department.

The exhibition showcases projects that reflect the students’ fields of interest and invites visitors to take a fascinating look behind the scenes of the creative processes which helped define the projects.

"The current exhibition is a significant milestone both for the graduates and for us, the academic and professional faculty of the Industrial Design department. The achievements of the graduates are noteworthy considering the enormous challenge posed to all of us by the Corona pandemic, which was the reality during their first three years. These unique circumstances impacted significantly on the way in which we were able to teach and study,” said Ofer Zik, Department Head.

Among the innovative works are designs such as shoes made for walking on Mars, a social enterprise to improve canine lives by connecting kennels with volunteers, independent

housing units for the homeless, an Arab-Jewish cultural space in Jaffa that serves as a place for creation, thought and dialogue between contemporary cultures, and more.
